Getting Closer to Home

Yesterday we filled out our final round of paperwork for the U.S. Consulate. Yippee!!! Sean has already received his Chinese passport, so we made a request for a visa into the U.S. for Sean. Thursday is our Consulate appointment. On Friday, we will receive his visa. Then we depart for Hong Kong and begin our journey home to everyone! We are overwhelmed with the joy of having Sean enter our family and cannot wait for each of you to meet him and see his smiling face.

In addition to the mounds of paperwork, we ventured out to see Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. Jim and Sean walked the grounds, listened to monks chant, and gazed high into the sky to see the Buddha and Pagoda. This was truly one of the most beautiful temples that we’ve seen in all of China.

After the temple we zoomed, in the tour bus (which Sean loves), to see the Old Chen family house. Sean was way more interested in all the kids riding bikes and running throughout the plaza, but enjoyed mommy carrying him through the gardens as he ate his morning snack. So fun!

We dined in and enjoyed some play time with a few other toddlers, jumped in the bath and off to bed we went.

  1. Joslyn and Jim,

The picture at the end is absolutely priceless! He is so bonded to you already and he loves his Mommy! I am sure he has just as much fun and love for Daddy too! Glad the consulate paperwork is going well...must be a big pain (cannot imagine doing it with a 2 year old). We, too, are counting the days until you come home. Cannot wait to meet Sean and give you all a hug! Until then, hugs and love across the miles!

  3. Kids - Your family looks so complete and like you've been together forever. He looks so big sitting on his mommy's lap, and yes, your grocery bills will definitely increase, remembering that's a good thing not a bad thing. I've so enjoyed taking this journey with you and so has Grandma. Looking so forward to your return. You were more concerned about me being able to crawl on the floor playing with Sean, but the way you talk it's going to be more of a challenge to "chase" and "run him down". I love you all. Safe journeys. Love Mom
